Dinner in the evening is only thing that's NOT included in the camp price. We don't include this meal because there are so many great places to eat in Whistler.
You aren't on your own for dinner though. Every day on our activity board at the hotel we have 5 different restaurants listed and the times that coaches are taking campers. You can hook up with whatever group you'd like to eat with.
We keep a close eye on everyone, especially the younger campers to make sure everyone is eating right and not just junk food. We have two staff members whose job it is to take the younger campers to dinner. Just because you have to pay for dinner yourself doesn't mean you are by yourself.
Some coaches go for dinner and then to the Village 8 Cinemas for a movie. The restaurants we list range from pizza, sushi, Mexican, Indian, Italian. No matter what you like to eat there is a crew heading to somewhere you'd like. There is even a McDonald's. Pretty much every day there is a crew of campers and coaches headed to Mongolie Grill and Pita Etc, across from the movie theater.
Campers are allowed to go to dinner by themselves or with friends; they are not forced to go with our staff. Dinner is usually crews of campers going to their favorite places. No one is left behind. The coolest thing is chilling in Whistler village after dinner. You see every pro you can
think of doing the same thing as you. Chilling in town after a good day riding. Whistler Village is like one big outdoor mall, it's a really safe and compact environment.
If you are over 19, the same rules and regulations of "No drugs" apply. Being 19 yrs or older,
you are classed as "an adult" in Canada and we treat you as such. If you are 19 yrs or older the
curfew does NOT apply and you are legally allowed to drink in Canada.
However, if you decide to go out at night we ask that
you do not return to the hotel in a noticeable or disruptive fashion. This means you cannot let
any of the under age campers see you drunk or with alcohol at anytime. If you have been drinking
at a bar in town you must return directly to your room upon returning to the hotel. We do not
want any under age campers exposed to bad influences and we appreciate your help in keeping
alcohol out of their sight.
The "No drugs" rule still applies of course, regardless of your age, as it is illegal and the
police will be involved if you are caught with illegal substances. If you cannot follow these simple
guidelines then you will be asked to leave the camp immediately with no refund or assistance
in getting back home.
The curfew for campers is 10pm back at the hotel and lights out by 11pm. This applies to all campers under 19 years. It doesn't get dark until 10pm up here in summer, so it's difficult to go to bed when it's still light out. If you are 19 or over this curfew does not apply, but you'll be so kicked from the days activities you'll want to go to bed early.
If the campers are in the movie room we let them finish watching the movie as long as it's over by midnight.
ZERO TOLERANCE.
If a camper of any age is caught with drugs, their parents are called and they go home immediately. No exceptions. No refunds.
If a camper (who is under the legal drinking age of 19 years old) is caught with alcohol, their parents are called and they go home immediately. No exceptions. No refunds. If the camper is the legal drinking age of 19 years or over, we ask that you do not drink at THE DORM and no drinking in front of younger campers anywhere else. That's why there are bars and restaurants in town. If you buy alcohol for under age campers you will be treated like an underage camper and sent home immediately. No exceptions. No refunds.

We have a random search policy of camper rooms. This random search policy is in place for all campers at all times to ensure your child's health and safety while at the Camp of Champions. Once registered, parent and camper sign to allow Camp of Champions staff to search the room occupied by your son/daughter (including personal belongings) at random for alcohol or drugs.
Summer camp means having fun. If a camper is making it so someone is not having fun, the camper will be asked to stop. If the camper continues to ruin someone’s camp experience, parents are called and the camper will go home immediately. No exceptions. No refunds.
This is the Camp of Champions, not the Camp of Party Animals. Ken Achenbach, the Camp Director lives in The Dorm supervising the campers along with other members of staff. Our close, but unimposing supervision lets everyone have a great time and stay out of trouble. We treat the kids with the respect they want, 99 times out of 100 we get it back.
Ken Achenbach is the Camp of Champions sole owner and director. He opened the first exclusive
snowboard store in the world in 1980. He along with a friend Neil Daffern, invented the Twintip
snowboard. Ken also invented the Baseless binding. Ken is/was a photographer and writer for all
the major snowboard magazines around the world and was a pro rider back in the day. In 2000
Ken was inducted into the Snowboarding Hall of Fame for his contributions to the sport. Snowboard
Canada called him the most influential Canadian Snowboarder. His first mountain bike was a Cook
Brothers back in 1980. He still has it, although he does ride something newer now for the park.
I guess 1980 was a really good year.
Ken also tells really bad jokes by the dozen (you've been warned).
We have very simple rules & regulations here at the Camp of Champions.
- No drugs. No alcohol. No smoking.
- Any camper caught with drugs or alcohol will be sent home immediately, with no refunds whatsoever.
- Abide by curfew, if you're under 19 years old (in hotel for 10pm, lights out at 11pm).
- No rude language or behavior to other campers, our staff, hotel staff or hotel guests.
- are responsible for your bike and the condition it is in. If it gets stolen, you bought it.
It gets broken you pay to fix it. The credit card we have on file will be charged the retail price
for the bike if stolen, and any repairs will also be charged to the card.
- Do not store any backpacks, boards or skis on the mountain, bring all your equipment back to the
hotel everyday, it could be stolen up there.
- No littering anywhere.
- No stickers anywhere in the hotel (parents' credit cards would be charged by the Camp of Champions
for any damage to the room).
Zero tolerance is how we operate. This creates a healthy, safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.
There is also a random room search policy at the hotel. It is detailed in the release form which the
parents and camper will sign before they arrive at camp. Below is a copy:
