Our main concern at camp is your child's safety. This begins from the minute they
arrive at Vancouver airport and ends when they return home. We have more coaching staff
than any summer camp in North America. This translates to more people ensuring that
the ultimate summer camp experience is achieved for every single camper.
-
- If the airline classes your child as an "un-accompanied minor" you may have to pay
the airline a fee for an escort at both end on both legs of the journey.
- The child traveling also may require a notarized letter from both parents to leave
the USA.
- Make sure the child has the correct documents for travel, passport is best (or photo
ID & original birth certificate). Make sure your child can be released to camp
staff in Vancouver Airport.
- There also may be issues if the parents are divorced. For instance, if the child
only has only ONE of the parents written permission and not the other.
- Each airline has different rules and regulations so please consult them directly.
What if there's an accident?
Whistler has its own hospital that can deal with any sort of medical emergency that
may arise during camp. Whistler/ Blackcomb, being the number one ski area in North America,
has over two million skier visits every year, and the bike
park has been her for years so you can guarantee that the medical staff is
world class and they can deal with any emergency, as they've seen it all before.
Whistler has a bike patrol and they will attend if something
happens. They drive down the mountain to the hospital in their ambulance. If the injury
is severe, Whistler Blackcomb have a helicopter that is on standby all summer, that
will fly the camper to the hospital in the village, it takes minutes.
We have a ski patrol on site with our camp and they will attend if
something happens on the glacier. An injured camper either rides down the chairlift
with one of our coaching staff to the hospital, or they are driven down from the mountain
to the hospital by ambulance. If the injury is severe, Whistler Blackcomb have a helicopter
that is on standby all summer, that will fly the camper to the hospital in the village,
it takes minutes.
According to the Blackcomb ski patrol and The Whistler Health Care Center, we are
the most organized most professionally run camp in Whistler.
Medical Insurance
We DO NOT offer any form of medical insurance. We strongly recommend that you organize
some sort of medical cover before the camper arrives. Please make sure it covers downhill mountain biking snow related
sports, specifically skiing and snowboarding.
If there is an accident, like a broken arm for instance,
Whistler Mountain has a professional bike patrol dedicated to the bike park.
Blackcomb Mountain have professional ski patrol dedicated to our
camp facility. They will immediately attend any incident along with one or
more of our coaching staff. The injured party will then be safely transported off the
mountain to the hospital in the village. They will receive the best medical care, in
a state-of-the-art facility.
The hospital only accepts credit card or cash payment immediately after any treatment,
then you can claim back that cost from the medical insurance company you used.
Is it safe to fly to Canada?
With the current world climate, a lot of parents ask us this question. Yes, absolutely,
it is extremely safe to fly to Canada. It's more dangerous driving to your local airport
than it is to fly anywhere. Security at airports across North America has never been
tighter, so you're as safe as humanly possible right now when you fly.
