Parents
The "Talking your family into coming to Whistler so you can do camp" Technique.
Some parents are nervous about sending their camper across the country or around the world by themselves. The best way to come
to camp if you can't get them to send you on your own is to talk them into making Whistler a family vacation. Get them excited
about how great Whistler is in the summer. Tell them that Whistler is the host of the 2010 Olympics and they should see it
before the Olympics. Whistler has all kinds of stuff to do that parents like. Tell them there is actually more things for
them to do in Whistler than there is for you to do. There are three championship golf courses, a Nicklaus, a Palmer and
an another "other famous golf guy" course. There are tennis courts everywhere, beaches, lakes, beautiful hikes, 110
restaurants, and shopping galore. Say the magic words that you always read in brochures that make parents go crazy
and want to visit... Use the words, "Funky Shops"; "4 Star Dining";
"World class Spas"; "Sunny patios";"Canoe or kayak down a beautiful river";"Lie on the beach"; whatever it takes. If
your parents are super cool tell them about the skatepark and the 300 miles of cross-country mountain bike trails and
the Downhill Bike Park. Whatever it takes to get you to Whistler. Walk them through the camp website. Tell them the
money you will save them on their vacation by doing a Standard Camp instead of a Deluxe Camp. For once you are
saving them money. You get to go to camp; parents get a cheap vacation in Whistler. Everyone is stoked. The
cool part is you really see your parents when you change clothes after riding, and to hit them up for dinner money.
Then to sleep at the end of the day. You don't miss anything, and you won't even have to hang out with them and they won't have to hang out with you - a perfect vacation for everyone.
