Use Frequent Flyer Points to pay for camp

It's taken a year of work to set up but it is finally a go! You can now use your Royal Bank Visa Rewards points to pay for your camp. This is definitely the coolest thing ever for camper parents or jet setting campers with their own credit cards. Unfortunately it's only for Canadian's but we are working on setting something similar up with a US credit card.

If you are coming from the USA,or elsewhere, call your credit cards rewards department and tell them you want to use your points to pay for The Camp of Champions. They might be able to pull it off and make it so you can come to camp on your points.

REDEEMING YOUR RBC POINTS TOWARDS COC

First thing is email or call us so we save a space for you at camp. Next, book your camp with Suzie Grant at Carlson Wagonlit Travel. Their number is 1-800-Carlson (1-800-227-5766) You do the whole booking with CWT and then use your points to pay for it. There is a service charge of $39.00 that you can also pay using your points.

For years campers have been flying here for free using points. Now you can not only fly here for free you can actually get your camp for free using your points. YESSSSSSSSS! It's a beautiful world.

250,000 POINTS FOR 8 DAY DELUXE

The points math is 100 points per dollar value of the camp you select. 8 Day Deluxe Camp with Cancellation Insurance and GST would be $2546.25 or 250,000ish points.

If you don't have the total amount of points needed you can pay using part points and part cash so you can at least save some of the money it costs to come to camp.

We're so stoked to finally have this set up for you. Sorry it took longer than we thought it would but it's game on from now on.

Early Sign Up Hook Ups

To celebrate our 21th anniversary, we have thought up a pile of cool things this year for people who sign up early. Sign up early and get pirate treasure. We have gotten together with some of our sponsors to make up the best early sign up bonus ever. Sign up early and score!

The Largest Private Summer Park

This isn't new but every year Arena Snowparks build us such an amazing park it feels like it's new. Over the last three years we have doubled the size of our park. The COC Park is now at least one third bigger to double the size of any park at Hood (even when you add in HCSC's new park) and TRIPLE the size at least of any park in Whistler. The complete park is lift accessed. At Hood most of the camps are hike only or half hike/half lift access. At COC we don't care what you slide on, we want to have the best park on earth for you to go off in. We hire Steve Petrie and Arena Snowparks and the only design parameters we give him is "It has to be the best park on earth, and have stuff for every ability level." 2008 was the best park yet. So many pros were calling it "The Best Park Winter or Summer" that it's blowing us away. Just wait for 2009.

Rails

In the last two summers we have spent over $60,000 on new move-able rails to our already "Bigger Than Everyones'" rail park. We made all our rails move-able by snowcat so we can change up the park any night we felt it was needed. Instead of it taking days to change our rail layout we can now change the park over night. People thought the amount of rails we had was ridiculous. Now that we can change the layout over night it really is. We have more rails in our junkyard to be recycled than other camps have on snow."It's how we roll." Or actually "It's how we slide"

Check out an interview Gerhard Gross our former coach and now the new Associate Editor of Snowboard Canada, made with Steve Petrie the COC park builder extraordinaire.

Sigg Waterbottles

Sigg, an awesome Swiss company makes the best aluminum water bottles on earth. They are hooking every camper up with a custom COC bottle this summer. It was gold in 2008. For this summer...?

More Brands of Bikes at COC

As much as we all love the Norco's, everyone has a different taste in what is his or her “Favorite Bike Ever” is. We have brand new bikes from as many different manufacturers as possible so that you can test ride the bike of your dreams in the park instead of just reading a review of it online, then compare it to the other bikes of your dreams while having an epic week riding the park. When you go home or if you are buying a bike while you are here, you’ll know exactly what you want to buy. Check out the 2009 bike line up!

Ride Along Mechanic®

Our buddy "Strontium Dog" is our Ride Along Mechanic®. The only thing worse than flatting or blowing something up on your bike is the time lost fixing it. Now if you have a "mechanical" it's mellow. Strontium Dog will swap bikes with you so you can keep riding, then after he's fixed your bike, catch up to you and swap you back. No more wasted runs. At COC our bikes are brand new, not rentals, so your bike is less likely to breakdown to begin with.

Tuned Bikes®

"Strontium Dog" our Ride Along Mechanic® gets up every day at 5:00AM to tune the bike you are going to ride to your weight and riding style. Imagine how much better you will ride when you are on a bike tuned to your weight, with the suspension, sag and fork rebound tuned for you. This is usually only something that the pros get to experience. Every evening after riding Strontium Dog goes over every bike with a fine toothed comb making sure the bike is in perfect shape for the next day. This keeps mechanicals to a minimum so you don't miss any runs in the park. EPIC! While he's doing the evening tune campers are welcome to drop in to the bike room and learn how to work on their bikes. "Droppin' knowledge like Gallileo dropped an orange."

Gareth Dyer, Brian Lopes, Darcy Turenne and Niki Gaudex

Legendary Whistler pro Gareth Dyer joined the ranks of the COC coaches. His riding and coaching ability really added to the whole camp experience. The word is out on how great COC is. In addition to our regular pro coaches, we have pro riders coming out of the woodwork wanting to coach with us. During Oakley week we had Brian Lopes, Darcy Turenne and Nicki Gudex throwing down with campers. I don't know how we are going to beat the summer of 2008... but we're going to try. Don't miss it.

COC Stripped®

Stripped® is designed as the “Bare Bones” Whistler bike camp / Whistler bike trip. We understand that flying from around the world to ride the Whistler Bike Park can be expensive. Since COC has been riding in Whistler since 1988, we have the connections to make an inexpensive MTB trip to Whistler possible. Stripped® is for the rider who wants to get to Whistler, hit the park, ride a great bike and have somewhere to sleep at night. Stripped® is the Whistler Bike Camp you want. $950 CDN a week for 6 days in the Whistler Bike Park, double occupancy accommodation in a 2 bedroom suite at "The Dorm", COC's dorm on Blackcomb mountain, one day of guiding in the park so you know what's up and one of our Norco's to ride for 6 days. If you are on a budget, or just want to ride and don't need anything else... Stripped® is the camp for you.

COC Cash.

Every year the COC Shop knocks it out of the park with the coolest limited edition private label clothing and accessories from our sponsors. Nomis custom COC Hoodies, Custom COC Dakine Packs and gloves, as well as cool stuff from other partners. The "6-10" convenience store rocks the house with slurpees, sodas, ice cream, healthy food, candy, chips and chocolate/candy bars. To make it easier for campers to get the coolest stuff and eat without actually having to carry any money, we have introduced COC Cash. All you have to do is send fill in the "COC Cash" box with the maximum COC Cash you want or you want your camper to have access to, and we put their purchases on your card. The COC Cash is good for anything in the COC Demo Room or the 6-10. We do the billing at the end of each session.

6-10

almost as good as 7-11

We called the COC convenience store in The Dorm, "6-10" because we joke that with it's slurpee machine it's "Almost as Good as 7-11". Ken's mum Hilary runs the 6-10. Hil rocks the house with the slurpees, sodas, ice cream, samosas, tandoori wraps, candy, pizza, calzones, chips and chocolate/candy bars. Everyone asked for more ice cream choices so we will have scoop ice cream in as many flavours as we can pack into a freezer. John and Deanne who do all our lunches on the glacier and used to own the best deli in town, Ingrids, are sourcing and making us more healthy and delicious food for this coming summer. If you liked the 6-10 last year, you are going to love it in 2009.

Other stuff

We don't know what else will be new this year but every year there is something, and because this is our 21th anniversary it's going to be even cooler than usual. Sign up for the RSS feed on our blog and you'll be the first to know.
